Snapshots and studio portraits related to the extended family of affluent San Francisco banker and businessman Edward Whiting Hopkins. Vol. 1. (1868-1927) features many studio portraits of Helen Hopkins Taylor, daughter of Edward Whiting Hopkins, from childhood through late adulthood, as well as portraits of her father, her mother Georgina Smith Hopkins, her husband Augustus Taylor, and her grandparents Samuel F. Hopkins and Mary Ann Keeney Hopkins -- Vol. 2 (1907-ca. 1940) consists primarily of snapshots depicting Evelyn Taylor Postley (daughter of Helen Hopkins Taylor and Augustus Taylor) and her friends and relations from childhood to early adulthood. Featured prominently are riding events of the Menlo Circus Club in Atherton, Calif. -- Vol. 3 (ca. 1865-ca. 1935) primarily features studio portraits of Clarence Postley, husband of Evelyn Taylor Postley, from childhood to his marriage to Evelyn, as well as other portraits of various relatives or friends of the Postleys. -- Vol. 4 (ca. 1865-ca. 1940) contains snapshots apparently of the Postley family and various members of a Kelham family, with many photos taken around Menlo Park, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Evelyn Taylor Postley appears in a few of the photographs.

Morris Badt was born in Schwersenz, Posen, Germany in 1830. He emigrated to New York in 1847 and moved to San Francsico in 1851, where he established a mercantile business. He later established businesses in Elko and Wells, Nevada. He married Lena Posener in 1868. Badt died in San Francisco in 1899. Mirel Lipshuetz Badt was the stepmother of Morris Badt.
